The Garmin Forerunner 405cx GPS fitness watch for sports enthusiasts records your time, distance, pace, calories burned and heart rate. All of this information can be transferred into a computer where it can be analyzed. Overall the reviews of the Garmin Forerunner 405cx are good, but there is one complaint that causes great frustration for quite a few users. It's the "touch bezel", which is the silver frame around the watch face designed to make it easier for selecting navigation options. It may seem complicated at first, but learning a few simple techniques can get you on your way in no time.

To navigate the multifunction touch bezel, you need to learn how to Tap, Touch and Hold, Double Press and Touch and Drag.

To tap, just slightly press your finger to: select, go to a menu option or change pages.

To touch and hold: simply hold your finger on one of the four areas to switch modes. The four touch bezel areas are time/date, GPS, menu and training. You will also notice two other options outside the watch face, the start/stop/enter and the lap/reset/quit buttons. It is important for the user to familiarize with these areas to easily utilize the options.

To double press: press two fingers to turn on the backlight.

Lastly, to touch and drag: press your finger first and then drag it around to scroll the menu or increase or decrease values.

To configure, you have to set the user profile the first time you use the Forerunner 405cx. Just follow the on-screen steps based on the training description, frequency and training time per week you desire.

To acquire satellite signals, remember to exit power save mode by pressing enter or quit. It may take a few minutes to acquire the signal; Make sure that you are outdoors and the antenna is directed toward the sky. For indoor use, touch and hold the GPS and then turn it off.

At the beginning of your workout, simply touch and hold training area, then press start for timer... then press stop upon completing your workout. Do not forget to press and hold the reset button to save your data and reset the timer.

For assessing the progress of your training, download the free software included with your package. You can access the ANT Agent that allows you to transfer data between your Forerunner 405cx and Garmin Connect within a 10-foot range of your computer. You can also use this gadget with interactive Virtual partner to set up your pace by downloading previous workouts and challenging them.
